Everything I know about cooking, entertaining, and eating comes from my grandmother, Erna.
Sure, there are the recipes —— her fresh salads, split pea soup, apple strudel and her famous sugar cookies. But it is more than that. She was truly ahead of her time in her belief that you are what you eat, organic is always best, and that soup should be served year round. Her mantra was simple and has become my own: There's no substitute for a home cooked meal.
This website is my homage to her and a place for you to find inspiration, menus, and the occasional recipe. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, I've worked in some of New York's finest kitchens. For the last 20 years, I've been a private chef and caterer in New York City serving home cooked kosher food.
